Director of Family Ministries
Loganville First United Methodist Church
Loganville, Georgia
CLASSIFICATION: Salaried, Part Time (15-20 hours weekly)
SALARY RANGE: $15,000-$20,000 (commensurate with experience)
SUPERVISED BY: Senior Pastor, with support and guidance from the Staff Parish Relations Committee.
SUMMARY:
Loganville First United Methodist Church is looking for an enthusiastic part time Director of Family Life Ministries who will be responsible for overseeing children’s ministry, youth ministry, and community outreach. The ideal candidate will possess the skills and gifts to recruit, develop, lead, and equip volunteer teams in carrying out or mission of “making disciples of Jesus Christ.” The ideal candidate will have a vision for cultivating new relationships with schools, developing new relationships with the Loganville First Preschool, and with the surrounding community.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred
Master’s degree or higher in a relevant field may be highly considered
SOUGHT-AFTER QUALIFICATIONS:

- Skills and experience in the recruitment and organization of volunteers
- Skills and experience in organizing and implementing retreats, mission work, children and youth worship services, events within Loganville First UMC, community events, andnnew children and youth ministries
- A strong sense of what is “fun” for the children and youth, as well as, the importance of play, friendly and inclusive competition, free time together, and a constructive balance of autonomy.
- Skills and experience in teaching, the development of children and youth programming, and facilitating a group process (Sunday School, programming, Bible Studies, etc.).
- Willingness to manage and supervise volunteers serving children and youth ministries
- Enthusiasm for working as a part of a team to creatively support, teach, and work with children, youth, and their parents/guardians.
- Vision for partnering with local schools (including the Loganville First UMC Preschool).
RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Plan, lead, and facilitate a comprehensive Christian education that provides a basis for biblical and theological enrichment for children grades kindergarten through 5th grade and youth grades 6th through 12th
- Christian education should reflect a strong sense of Wesleyan Theology.
- Encourage intergenerational relationships between the children and youth and other members of the church.
- Work closely with Loganville First UMC Preschool and local schools to develop and cultivate relationships with families and teachers.
- Recruit, supervise, equip, and support paid staff and volunteers in support of children and youth programs.
- Recruit and equip volunteers to serve in children, youth, and family ministries.
- Provide pastoral care to families as needed (i.e., births, deaths, crisis) alongside the Senior Pastor.
- Form and maintain a network of strong relationships between the different children, youth, and families engaged in the ministry.
- Foster opportunities for relationships to be built between the children, youth, adult volunteers, and other members of the church.
- Attend and participate in worship, relevant meetings, youth and children ministry and church-wide events.
- Promote and develop opportunities for leadership, education, and advocacy for our children and youth, especially in the areas of discipleship.
- Ensure that all volunteers working with children and youth follow Safe Sanctuary Guidelines.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

- Requires manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination.
- May require prolonged standing or sitting, frequent bending, stooping or stretching.
- May require lifting items up to 50 pounds and carrying them a distance of 25 feet.
